Simon kerr
MSc, BSc (Hons), Dip Ac Sp Med, MSST, MAcS OA

Since graduating in 2011 with a BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Therapy from the University of Cumbria, Simon went on to further education, graduating with his MSc in Sports Injury Rehabilitation at the University of Salford in 2015. During this time Simon was working within sports injury clinics and local clubs in Carlisle, progressing on to a part time lecturing role in Sports Rehabilitation at the University of Cumbria. Simon has since attained special qualifications in Hydrotherapy and an Orthopaedic Acupuncture and Dry Needling in Sports Medicine Diploma. 

Currently Simon is providing full time treatment and rehabilitation session within Optimum and external hydrotherapy sessions. Simon developed an interest in sports injury and rehabilitation following a shoulder injury he sustained practising judo, this resulted in a passion for understanding mechanisms of injury and sports specific rehabilitation. Although no longer practising Judo Simon is a keen Brazilian JuJItsu practitioner with an interest in combat sports.

James Wilson
BSc (Hons), Dip Ac Sp Med, MSST, MAcS OA

Since graduating in 2011 with a BSc (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Therapy from the University of Cumbria, James has furthered his knowledge with qualifications in:

  • Orthopaedic Acupuncture & Dry Needling

  • Level 3 Personal Training

  • Strength and Conditioning

  • Exercise with Special Populations, Obesity & Diabetes

  • Falls Prevention

  • Hydrotherapy

He has experience working with local sports teams as well as being employed as a Sports Therapist and Fitness Consultant at a local Health Clinic. Alongside working at Optimum James is also employed as a Therapist for the Fire Fighters Charity supporting injured Fire Fighters across the country.

Being an ex-Rugby player and now CrossFitter. James believes his years of experience with various injuries, both his own and team mates, has given him great insight into the varied demands of sports and the need for individual, sport specific treatment and rehabilitation.
