Kinesiology Taping
Unlike regular sports tape, kinesiology tape is stretchy, some tape can stretch up to 180%. Kinesiology tape is a highly versatile tape that can be used for a wide verity of applications.
Once kinesiology tape is applied it causes a lifting effect, lifting the skin away from the underlying facia and other structures beneath. This improves blood flow and the lymphatic drainage, theoretically increasing injury-healing times and decreasing inflammation.
Kinesiology tape is commonly used in postural manipulation. Assisting the activation of inhibited muscles and basic movement patterns, resulting in improved posture. Alongside rehabilitation programmes this stimulus within the muscle remains once the tape is removed, resulting in improved movement patterning.
When applied correctly kinesiology tape can be an effective tool to coincide with an individuals treatment and rehabilitation program enhancing the recovery of a variety of issues, for example:
- Achilles tendonitis
- Muscle strains
- Shin splints
- Lower back pain
- Improved posture
- Pain relief
- Reduce inflammation
- Tennis or golfers elbow
- Runners knee
